North Haven Golf Course

SEASON: May - October

SUPERINTENDENT: Wes Newman.

TYPE OF COURSE: Semi-private, 9-hole course.

PAR: 35.

LENGTH: 3,065 yards. The course has two par 3s, six par 4s and one par 5. The longest holes is the 550-yard, par-5 fifth and the shortest is the130-yard, par-3 sixth.

COURSE/SLOPE RATING: 113/68.2.

LAYOUT: The Atlantic Ocean can be seen from many places on the course. Newman calls the course, “A slicer’s paradise and hooker’s nightmare.” Golfers must hit over water only on the 130-yard, par-3 sixth. Expect plenty of sidehill lies. Woods abound on the perimeter and in recent years plenty of natural grass has been allowed to grow to distinquish the holes. A new pond has been dug on the left side of the first hole.

HISTORY: The land used to be part of the Waterman Farm. The basic layout of the course has changed little since Wayne Stiles’ and John Van Kleek’s original routing and design. Jeff Quinn and his father, Stanley, groomed the course for more than 30 years. Many new trees were put in in recent years and in some areas there has been extensive clearing.
