Green Thumb Sale set

     The Belfast Garden Club will host its annual fund-raiser, the Green Thumb Sale, Saturday, May 20, at the Pitcher House on Northport Avenue, Belfast. The annual event has gone on for more than two decades. This year, it will run from 9 a.m. to noon.

     The sale will offer a wide range of plants including locally grown, hardy potted perennials for the sun, shade and part shade, herbs and hypertufa pots. The pots are made by club members and planted with a variety of plants. Also, there will be a selection of annuals.

     New this year, there will be a “plant doctor” on site. For a small donation, people can have gardening questions researched and answered. If the doctor is unable to answer on the spot, she will get back to the person needing the gardening information.

     Prices range from $3 to about $10, depending on the size and type of plant, with the vast majority around $4 or $5. The proceeds from the sale will benefit the Belfast Garden Club Scholarship Fund.
